Man killed in crash on Highway 102 in N.S., latest in deadly weekend on roads – Halifax

RCMP in Nova Scotia are investigating multiple crashes over the weekend, including one that claimed the life of a 20-year-old man near Fall River, N.S. on Sunday.

The crash happened on Hwy. 102 between exits 4C and 5, at around 11:30 a.m.

“RCMP officers learned that a Honda Civic was travelling north when it left the roadway and came to rest in the ditch,” police said in a release.

“The driver of the vehicle, and lone occupant, a 20-year-old Newfoundland man was pronounced deceased at the scene.”

The fatality follows another deadly crash on Saturday night in Fort Lawrence, N.S. where three people — including an infant — were killed.

As well, RCMP in Lunenburg district are investigating a serious collision on Hwy. 103 in Clearland, N.S. Sunday morning.

First responders received a report of a crash at around 9:30 a.m. involving two SUVs that had collided head on.

“The driver, and sole occupant, of the Ford (Edge), a 34-year-old Simms Settlement woman, suffered life-threatening-injuries and was transported to hospital by Lifeflight,” RCMP noted.

“The driver of the (Volvo XC40), a 68-year-old Sydney woman, suffered serious but non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to hospital by ambulance. She was later transferred to a hospital in Halifax.”

As well, the 79-year-old Howie Centre, N.S. woman who was the passenger of the Volvo was taken to ambulance with non-life threatening injuries.
