Ontario Provincial Police in Huron County said they are expecting an unsanctioned truck rally to take place in Goderich and Central Huron on Friday night.

“Similar events in other areas resulted in numerous car rally participants engaging in illegal acts including dangerous driving, impaired driving, and stunt driving and other driving related offences,” OPP said in a media release.

The statement also listed several activities that could result in stunt driving charges. The list includes car racing, cars chasing one another, burnouts and drifting, among other unsafe practices.

Police warn that vehicles could be impounded and licences suspended. There could also be fines of up to $10,000 as well as jail time.

Police said they are bringing in additional resources to ensure public safety.

This would not be the first unsanctioned rally in the area this summer.  In May, 50 vehicles gathered in the area for such an event, police said.

There was also an unsanctioned truck rally in Barrie earlier that month, which brought hundreds of vehicles  to a parking lot and resulted in thousands of dollars in damage.
